Nutritional Risk Index: A Predictive Metric for Mortality After Lung Transplant
نویسندگان
چکیده
BackgroundMalnourishment is associated with poor outcomes after lung transplantation. Validated screening tools for patients awaiting transplants are needed. We assessed the association of Nutritional Risk Index (NRI) transplantation.MethodsWe categorized adult (aged more than 18 years) undergoing incident transplantation in Scientific Registry Transplant Recipients between 2005 and 2018 (n = 13,392) according to NRI categories malnutrition: none, 100 or greater; mild, 97.5 less; moderate, 83.5 severe, less 83.5. used Cox models characterize all-cause mortality within 5 years, graft failure 1 year, length stay. In a subset 11,634), we logistic regression assess airway dehiscence, reintubation, chest tube placement.ResultsOf 13,392 transplant recipients (mean age 55 years; 58.6% male) study, most common indication was idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (36.2%), followed by chronic obstructive disease (27.3%), cystic (12.6%). Based on NRI, 54.4% were non-malnourished, 12.4% mildly, 25.9% moderately, 7.2% severely malnourished. Five-year higher among severe malnutrition (44.6%) compared who non-malnourished (38.9%). Severe malnourishment remained significantly risk, adjustment covariates (hazard ratio 1.47; 95% confidence interval, 1.26 1.58). The stay longer (median 15 days) days). This difference persisted (severe hazard 0.85; 0.79 0.91).ConclusionsThe before an independent predictor postoperative morbidity Malnourishment placement. Of 0.91).

A simple clinical predictive index for objective estimates of mortality in acute lung injury.
OBJECTIVE We sought to develop a simple point score that would accurately capture the risk of hospital death for patients with acute lung injury (ALI). DESIGN This is a secondary analysis of data from two randomized trials. Baseline clinical variables collected within 24 hours of enrollment were modeled as predictors of hospital mortality using logistic regression and bootstrap resampling to ...

The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical relevance and usefulness of the Onodera's prognostic nutritional index (OPNI) as a prognostic and nutritional indicator in peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients. Patients were divided into 3 groups based on the initial OPNI score: group A (n = 186, < 40), group B (n = 150, 40-45), and group C (n = 186, > 45). Group A was associated with a higher gr...

OBJECTIVE To determine the nutritional profile of lung transplant candidates. METHODS A retrospective cross-sectional study involving lung transplant candidates at a public hospital in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. Data related to gender, age and underlying lung disease were compiled for the participants. For the assessment of the nutritional profile of the patients, body mass index (BMI), m...
متن کاملPneumonia after kidney transplant: incidence, risk factors, and mortality.
OBJECTIVES Pneumonia is an important cause of morbidity and mortality in recipients of solid-organ transplant. We aimed to determine risk factors for development of pneumonia and associated deaths in kidney transplant recipients. MATERIALS AND METHODS A retrospective review of medical records was performed for all kidney transplant recipients from December 1988, to April 2011. The diagnosis o...
متن کاملA Multi-Metric Index for Hydrocarbons Source Apportionment
Several studies have been conducted to develop more accurate and precise indices for hydrocarbons source apportionment. The present study, however, develops a new multi-metric index for hydrocarbons source apportionment. It measures Poly Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) concentration at six stations with well known petrogenic origin, calculating Phe/An, Flu/Py, Chr/BaA, BaA/Chr, An/(An+Ph), Flu/(Fl...
